The Giving Catalog is open for the month of October, closing on the 31st.
As in past years, PCF awards $500 each week during the month to each organization that raises the most money during the prior week. Week one ends October 8; week two ends October 15; week three ends October 22; and week four ends October 31st. Yes we know that not all weeks are 7 days long.
With more than 20 participating organizations, and rising needs across all sectors of our community, we know this year’s catalog is very important to all participants. And yet, several organizations that definitely need help did not make it into the catalog! We are working on ways to ensure this does not happen again.
Bayside Singers, a local chorale, has a fund with PCF, Bayside Singers Fund, which they use to pay copyright fees for sheet music and cover other costs as needed.
If you like to sing, consider joining the chorale. My contralto voice is now too gravelly for public consumption, but your voice might be fine!

HAVA: Harbor Association of Volunteers for Animals is a shelter for pets in north Pacific County. Animals need our help too. The number of abandoned animals rises as times grow hard, and now is no exception.

The Outdoor School at the Ocean Park Camp and Retreat Center lost critical funding due to federal budget cuts to state programs, just as they were launching a long-planned expansion to serve multiple school districts. This program educates 5th graders in local natural history in four-day-long camps each year. The center plans to expand beyond our local school and include other schools in the state.
