In late January our commercial fishing fleet and community suffered a major blow with a devastating fire at Ilwaco Landing. Spearheaded by the Tuna Club, the Columbia River Crabbers Association and others, an extraordinary community effort enabled all local crabbers to get their pots in the water at the start of the crabbing season.
As recovery continues, a wide range of needs have arisen and continue to be addressed. While the full impact is not yet known, we do know insurance will not cover the full cost of rebuilding this important local facility. As a result, fundraising through local donations are still needed.
The Pacific Community Foundation (PCF) continues to be part of those fundraising efforts.
To date our community has donated over $10,000 to PCF’s Ilwaco Crabbers Relief Fund. Ongoing donations are very important and welcome.
