Grant Application and Awarding Process for Organizations


We operate our community grants program on a biannual cycle. Our deadlines for accepting grant applications to be considered are the first business days of March and October. Applications must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. on those days.

Most decisions are made on this cycle, although some major decisions may be deferred or considered at the Grants Committee's discretion.


The steps of our review process are as follows:

  • The Grants Committee will review the proposal to confirm that it fits our guidelines and that all necessary information is included. We may schedule an appointment or site visit.
  • After review and discussion, the committee recommends to our board of directors which proposals to award. The board of directors acts upon those recommendations.
  • A letter of notification of the board's decision will be presented by a board member following the board's decision.


When a grant is awarded, the organization will receive a letter of notification stating:

  • Conditions of the grant.
  • Reporting requirements.
  • A check in the grant amount (Educational Grants are paid directly to the education institution).


All reporting requirements are included with the letter of notification. A schedule for reporting will be agreed upon for each grant. We expect to receive some report in a timely manner following upon the award. The grants committee will monitor the organization's compliance, and failure to submit timely reports may affect future funding requests.
