Nonprofits Class Full of Energy for Fundraising

by | Nov 11, 2022 | Education

Blaine Walker (ear and elbow), Susan Spence, Nancy Allen, Phil Allen and Elaine Bruce are focused on how to think about money. 5 people, and seven organizations at one table.

Nancy Bacon led a class on November 10th through a better understanding of what fundraising is, and isn’t. More than thirty people gathered at Columbia Pacific Heritage Museum to learn about making fundraising plans, pitfalls to avoid, new ideas, and practiced talking about their organizations’ programs to each other.

Most people who volunteer are active in more than one local organization. We estimate that 50 local organizations were present that day among those 32 people.

Attendees not only received an intense tutorial in making pitches, they also reviewed basics of writing fundraising plans for organizations, and took their workbooks with them to keep going. PCF will be sending out digital copies to all attendees so they can share with their boards and staffs, to produce new plans for the coming year.

With inflation coming down, the stock market rebounding, and the holiday season approaching, it was a great time to hold this class. Everyone enjoyed seeing friends we haven’t seen for months, and years!

PCF organized the class, and Columbia Pacific Heritage Museum donated the space. Thank you to CPHM for helping sponsor this program! Nancy Bacon has taught several classes in our community and we were very pleased to have her here again for this very important subject.
